Radiant Rectangles

A wonderful Hello to you today!

This morning I went to the ANZAC dawn Service in my nearest town and was pleasantly surprised to see so many people there this year. I do hope that the great turn out to remember our wonderful diggers today is a sign of upcoming generations upholding our tradition of remembrance each year.

I am not sharing any ANZAC related card today but I thought I would share a birthday card I made during the week. Tomorrow is a special friends birthday and I started making a card – then didn’t like it as a card for her….started another – still wasn’t happy… then finally I made my third and last card which I think fits her nicely. Today’s card is one I wont give her.

Radiant Rectangles from Spellbinders - Card Front

Initially I really wanted to use some spellbinders dies. The card I am showing you today is made with Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles Nestabilities die set. I have use the majority of the dies in the set to make an easel card. The front of the card makes use of the first five dies from the Radiant Rectangles set. I have taken the second and fourth dies (the ones with detail cuts) and distressed them with Victorian Velvet ink by Tim Holtz from Ranger. The card front has then been layered up, stamped with a sentiment and accented with some roses.

The inside of the card again uses the Radiant Rectangles set along with the Dainty Corner die by Poppystamps from Memory Box. I cut two corners using the dainty corner die and then distressed with Victorian Velvet ink. I cut some of the Radiant Rectangles and then played a bit! In the end I kept an outer frame for the inside background. I adhered the Dainty Corner cuts using mounting foam so they were raised and created a pocket. There is a smaller card made out of the Radiant Rectangle cuts to write a message that fits nicely in this pocket or I could use it for a gift card.

I am not really sure how I will use this card yet – I only know it wasn’t the card I wanted for my friend.
